The Grocerist theme offers a breadcrumb solution that allows a more hierarchical relationship between breadcrumbs than Shopify's out of the box solution.
As seen here, the breadcrumb goes as deep as the product and can reference the hierarchy three levels up (four if you include Home), including the collection and subcollection that the product is in:
This solution pivots off of a specific configuration set up in the Navigation/menu area of the Online store:
- There must be a Navigation menu titled Main menu with the handle of main-menu
- Within the main menu, a Departments navigation should exist
- A Departments collection needs to be generated and it needs to leverage the subcollection menu list template
- Nesting can only be three levels deep ie/
- the solution can facilitate Departments > Meat > Beef > Sirloin roast (product) but it cannot manage Departments > Meat > Beef > Stewing > Sirloin roast (product)
