The relationship between collections, products and the Navigation settings in Shopify admin are built on top of Empire's versatile system of templates and navigation menu lists:
There are a few key critical things to remember about how the product hioerarchy needs to be structured:
- Any product's canonical collection is the one that relates directly to its product type in Shopify.
- The top level menu list and any subcollections (ie/ Pantry, Meat & Seafood) do still need to be created as collections in order to have the correct display template assigned; however, these collections will not hold any products in them.
